Notes

'Ostara' common hyacinth (Hyacinthus orientalis 'Ostara') is a bulb for borders, containers, and rock gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. It forms a clump of fragrant violet-blue flowers from early to late spring, and bees visit the blooms. Deer and rabbits tend to pass it by. Segers Bros. introduced it.

Pairs well with Carnaval De Nice tulip, Fire Island hosta, and Bowl of Beauty peony.
