Notes

Peony (Paeonia tenuifolia) is a perennial for borders and low maintenance gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to moist soil of most types. Dark red flowers open in spring and may return in summer. Butterflies and bees visit the blooms. Deer and rabbits tend to browse other plants first.

Pairs well with Blue fescue, Greig's tulip, and Burnet.
