Notes

'Phaedra' peony (Paeonia 'Phaedra') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, and cottage gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to moist, loamy soil. Fragrant, semi-double, maroon-red flowers with dark flares open from early to late spring. It is not a favorite of deer or rabbits, though hungry ones will eat almost anything. Nassos Daphnis bred it, and it has good stem strength.

Pairs well with May Night salvia, Astilbe, and Blue fescue.
