Notes

'Pixie' peony (Paeonia lactiflora 'Pixie') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, and perennial beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. It bears red, Japanese type flowers in early to mid spring. The medium sized blooms carry some purple and have lighter casts in the center. Edward Auten, Jr bred it.

Pairs well with Iris, Tiger lily, Picture tulip, and Ostrich fern.
