Notes
Plains evening primrose (Oenothera serrulatus) is a perennial for borders, meadows, and low maintenance gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full sun and dry, sandy or loamy soil. It grows 12 to 24 inches tall and wide, with narrow leaves that crowd branched stems. Small, yellow, four-petaled flowers open from the upper leaf axils. The best bloom comes at the start of flowering, followed by sporadic blooms through summer.
Pairs well with Spotted beebalm, Sand sagebrush, Pale evening primrose, and Sand dropseed.
