Notes

Sand sagebrush (Artemisia filifolia) is a shrub for borders, specimen planting, and xeriscape gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full sun to part shade and dry, sandy soil. Deer tend to pass it by. The feathery, silver-blue foliage smells sweetly pungent, and seeds feed sharptail grouse and other birds. Skip shearing, since it ruins the delicate foliage.

Pairs well with Sideoats grass, Prairie verbena, and Soaptree yucca.
