'Polar King' peony (Paeonia lactiflora 'Polar King') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, and perennial beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. The flowers have a Japanese form with white guard petals. The center holds yellow staminodes that fade to white. It blooms in mid season.
Pairs well with Yarrow, Phantom panicle hydrangea, Stargazer lily, and Garlic chives.
