Notes
'Porpentine' peony (Paeonia lactiflora 'Porpentine') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, and perennial beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. The large double blooms have wide guard petals the color of ripe red raspberries. The narrow center petals match the guards and are tipped lighter. Benjamin W. Guppy bred it.
Pairs well with Japanese spirea, Garlic chives, and Pussytoes.
