Notes

'Prairie Afire' peony (Paeonia 'Prairie Afire') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, cottage gardens, and specimen planting. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average moisture. The Japanese type flowers have deep pink guards with brilliant red petaloids, and they are fragrant. It sits low on the menu for deer and rabbits. Keep pets away, since it is toxic to dogs and cats.

Pairs well with Fire and Ice hosta, Pale purple coneflower, and Blonde Ambition blue grama.
