Notes

Prairie blue-eyed grass (Sisyrinchium campestre) is a perennial for meadow gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full sun and dry to moist, sandy soil. It forms a small clump of pale-green, grass-like leaves. Star-like flowers open pale blue to white with yellow centers from mid to late spring into early summer. The blooms open only on sunny days, and bees visit them.

Pairs well with Showy milkweed, Foxtail barley, and Common toadflax.
