Notes

'Prairie Moonlight' peony (Paeonia 'Prairie Moonlight') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, cottage gardens, and specimen planting. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to moist, loamy soil. It bears frilly, lemon-yellow single blooms with dark red flares in early to late spring. It is not a favorite of deer or rabbits, though hungry ones will eat almost anything. Butterflies visit the flowers, and the strong stems hold up the blooms well.

Pairs well with Star Gazer lily, Blue fescue, Niobe clematis, and Greig's tulip.
