Notes

'Prairie Pink' carnation (Dianthus 'Prairie Pink') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, pollinator gardens, and rock gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun and dry to average, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. Fragrant fuschia pink blooms open in spring and again in summer, and butterflies and bees visit them. Deer and rabbits rarely make it their first choice.

Pairs well with Clustered bellflower, Nodding onion, and Blonde Ambition blue grama.
