Notes

'Princesse Mathilde' peony (Paeonia lactiflora 'Princesse Mathilde') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, and perennial beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. Auguste Dessert bred it in 1908. The large, single flowers are Tyrian pink with silvery edges and white mottling, and they open in early to mid spring on a medium, spreading plant.

Pairs well with Lady's mantle, Miss Kim lilac, Blonde Ambition blue grama, and Sensitive fern.
