Notes

'Queen Mother' tea plant (Camellia sinensis 'Queen Mother') is a shrub for hedges, foundation plantings, and container growing. It is hardy to USDA zone 8, or down to 10°F (-12°C). This plant likes full or part sun and dry soil. Glossy new leaves are flushed reddish when young, and white to cream flowers open in early to mid autumn. It grows best as an ornamental rather than for big tea harvests. You can prune it to any size, even as a stand-in for boxwood.

Pairs well with Admiration Japanese barberry, Shenandoah switchgrass, and Star of persia.
