Notes

Railroad vine (Ipomoea pes-caprae) is a vine for ground cover and low maintenance gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 8, or down to 10°F (-12°C). This plant likes full sun to part shade and dry to average, sandy soil. The creeping stems carry erect stalks of funnel-shaped flowers in purple or reddish pink. The leaf shape gives the plant its species name, which means goat's foot. It tolerates drought and salt, so it suits sandy sites near the coast.

Pairs well with Sea ox-eye, Indian blanket, and Deergrass.
