Notes

'Red Currant' peony (Paeonia 'Red Currant') is a shrub for borders, cut flowers, cottage gardens, and specimen planting. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to moist, loamy soil. Large, satiny crimson blooms open in early to late spring and attract butterflies. Prof. Arthur Percy Saunders bred it. It sits low on the menu for deer and rabbits.

Pairs well with Elegans hosta, Jeana garden phlox, Blue fescue, and Lily.
