Notes

'Red Lake' common redcurrant (Ribes rubrum 'Red Lake') is a shrub for hedges and food gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to moist, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. It grows 36 to 60 inches tall and wide. Greenish-yellow flowers open in mid to late spring and again in early to late summer, and birds visit the plant. It is not a favorite of rabbits, though hungry rabbits will eat almost anything.

Pairs well with Miss Kim lilac, Sedge, Carlton daffodil, and Western sword fern.
