Notes

'Red Rothomagensis' Chinese lilac (Syringa chinensis 'Red Rothomagensis') is a shrub for hedges. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full sun and average moisture. It is not a favorite of deer, though hungry deer will eat almost anything. It bears fragrant, reddish purple blooms in late spring. It grows 12 to 16 feet tall and 8 to 12 feet wide, so give it room.

Pairs well with Incrediball Blush smooth hydrangea, Ice Follies daffodil, Blush peony, and Ernest Markham clematis.
