Notes

'Reward' peony (Paeonia 'Reward') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, cottage gardens, and perennial beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. Deer and rabbits tend to browse other plants first. Its flat single blooms are a warm dark maroon and fragrant, and bees and butterflies visit them. Saunders bred it in 1941.

Pairs well with Magnus coneflower, Patriot hosta, and Blonde Ambition blue grama.
