Notes

'Rheingold' American arborvitae (Thuja occidentalis 'Rheingold') is a shrub for hedges, specimen planting, foundation beds, and rock gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 2, or down to -50°F (-46°C). This plant likes full or part sun and dry to moist soil of most types. It grows slowly into a dense, evergreen, fragrant mound that reaches 3 to 5 feet tall and wide. Birds visit it. Deer tend to pass it by.

Pairs well with Globosa Colorado spruce, Rock soapwort, and Red fescue.
