rhododendron

Notes

Rhododendron (Rhododendron makinoi) is a shrub for borders, woodland gardens, and foundation plantings. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes full or part sun. Pink to white flowers open in early to late spring, and some are spotted crimson. The narrow leaves curl at the edges and have a thick white to tawny fuzz underneath. Young leaves look silver, and the shrub grows into a dense, rounded mound.

Pairs well with Toad lily, Snowdrop, and Shasta daisy.
