Notes

'Rotschwanz' bigleaf hydrangea (Hydrangea macrophylla 'Rotschwanz') is a shrub for borders, containers, cottage gardens, and hedges. It is hardy to USDA zone 6, or down to -10°F (-23°C). This plant likes part sun to full shade and average to wet, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. It grows fast and has an erect shape. It also tolerates salt. It is not a favorite of deer, though hungry deer will eat almost anything.

Pairs well with Wide Brim hosta, Beni-Maiko Japanese maple, and Lady fern.
