Notes
'Royal Robe' tree peony (Paeonia suffruticosa 'Royal Robe') is a shrub for borders, cut flowers, and perennial beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. Large, fragrant, purple blooms open in early to mid spring with ruffled petals. Stems are strong and carry one bud each. Toichi Domoto bred it, and it reaches about 3 feet tall.
Pairs well with Blue Mouse Ears hosta, Big bluestem, and Korean spice viburnum.
