Notes
'Royal Velvet' lavender (Lavandula angustifolia 'Royal Velvet') is a perennial for borders, containers, cottage gardens, and hedges. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes full or part sun and dry to average, sandy, loamy, or chalky soil. The compact mounds have grey-green leaves and dark purple flowers with a strong, sweet scent. Bees and butterflies visit the blooms. It sits low on the menu for deer and rabbits.
Pairs well with Lamb’s ear, Blue grama, and Purple Coneflower coneflower.
