Notes

'Rubin' carnation (Dianthus 'Rubin') is a perennial for borders, rock gardens, containers, and cottage gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun and dry to average, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. Fragrant deep pink to magenta flowers open in spring and again in summer, and bees and butterflies visit them. It sits low on the menu for deer and rabbits.

Pairs well with Blue fescue, Queen of Night tulip, and Shirley Temple peony.
