Notes

'Ruppel' clematis (Clematis 'Ruppel') is a vine for cottage gardens, specimen plantings, and privacy screens. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to moist soil of most types. It blooms in spring, summer, and autumn. It is not a favorite of deer or rabbits, though hungry ones will eat almost anything. Bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds visit the flowers.

Pairs well with Boston ivy, Paris coral bells, and David garden phlox.
