Notes
'Samoset' peony (Paeonia lactiflora 'Samoset') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, and perennial beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. The large, fragrant blooms open in early to mid spring in salmon-pink and magenta shades with silvery edges. Stems are tall, strong, and red, so the compact plants stand upright. George Hollis bred it in 1907.
Pairs well with Picture tulip, Ostrich fern, and Miss Kim lilac.
