Notes

'Schwellenburg' sage (Salvia nemorosa 'Schwellenburg') is a perennial for borders, pollinator gardens, and cottage gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun and dry to moist, sandy soil. Deer and rabbits usually look elsewhere for a meal. Rose-purple flowers appear in late spring, again in summer, and again in autumn. Butterflies, hummingbirds, and bees visit the fragrant blooms.

Pairs well with Jeana garden phlox, Standing Ovation little bluestem, and Bowl of Beauty peony.
