Notes

'Scintillation' peony (Paeonia 'Scintillation') is a shrub for borders, cut flowers, cottage gardens, and specimen planting. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to moist, loamy soil. The cream petals have red edges and geranium-red shading, and they age to buff. Deer and rabbits tend to browse other plants first. Butterflies visit the early to late spring blooms, and Derek Irvine bred it in 2001.

Pairs well with Bottlebrush buckeye, Niobe clematis, Lily, and Bells of Ireland.
