Notes

'Shine On Wine' tree peony (Paeonia suffruticosa 'Shine On Wine') is a shrub for borders, perennial beds, and cut flowers. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. It bears semi-double burgundy flowers in mid to late spring and early summer. Each stem holds one bud and has good strength, and the light green leaves set off the blooms. John and Dot McFarlane introduced it in 2002.

Pairs well with Queen of Night tulip, Astilbe, and Niobe clematis.
