Notes

'Signalman Akhenaten' peony (Paeonia 'Signalman Akhenaten') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, cottage gardens, and specimen planting. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. The single red flowers are bright, fragrant, and about 6 inches wide, and bees and butterflies visit the blooms. Professor Harald Fawkner bred it. It is not a favorite of deer or rabbits, though hungry ones will eat almost anything.

Pairs well with Fire Island hosta, Standing Ovation little bluestem, Polish Spirit clematis, and Carlton daffodil.
