Notes

'Silky Deep Red' blood flower (Asclepias curassavica 'Silky Deep Red') is a perennial for borders, containers, cottage gardens, and pollinator gardens. It grows outdoors year-round in USDA zone 9 and warmer, down to about 20°F (-7°C). In colder areas, grow it as a houseplant or bring it indoors for winter. This plant likes full sun, average moisture, and sandy or loamy soil. It reaches 35 to 47 inches tall and draws butterflies, hummingbirds, and bees. Deer and rabbits rarely make it their first choice. Bloom comes in spring, summer, and autumn.

Pairs well with Montbretia, Red-hot poker, Agapanthus, and Evergold sedge.
