Notes

Singleleaf pinyon (Pinus monophylla) is an evergreen tree for low maintenance gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes full sun and dry, sandy or loamy soil. It grows slowly and forms a rounded, gray-green crown with low, horizontal branches. The needles grow singly instead of in bundles, which makes this pine easy to spot. Birds visit the tree for its seeds.

Pairs well with Rock rose, Prickly-pear, Buffalo grass, and Elfin mother of thyme.
