Notes

'Skeeter's Broom' Japanese maple (Acer palmatum 'Skeeter's Broom') is a shrub for borders, containers, and specimen or accent planting. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to moist, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. Spring leaves emerge bright red and mature to maroon, then turn bright red in fall. It grows slowly and stays dense and compact. Deer and rabbits tend to browse other plants first.

Pairs well with Alboaurea Japanese forest grass, Spring snowflake, and Green and gold.
