Notes
'Smnhmsigma' bigleaf hydrangea (Hydrangea macrophylla 'Smnhmsigma') is a shrub for cut flowers, hedges, shade gardens, and foundation planting. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes part sun to full shade and average to wet, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. Deer tend to browse other plants first. It grows fast and forms an erect mound with pink to violet purple blooms from early to late summer. It is also salt tolerant.
Pairs well with Halcyon hosta, Aureola Japanese forest grass, and Autumn fern.
