'Smnlij' lagerstroemia (Lagerstroemia indica 'Smnlij') is a shrub for borders, hedges, and xeriscape gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 6, or down to -10°F (-23°C). This plant likes full sun, average moisture, and sandy, loamy, or chalky soil. It is not a favorite of deer, though hungry deer will eat almost anything. It is drought tolerant and needs little care. It blooms in early to late summer and again in early to late autumn.
Pairs well with Lavender, Black-eyed Susan, Rosemary, and Blue grama.
