Notes

Southern waxy sedge (Carex glaucescens) is a grass for borders, rain gardens, ground cover, and low maintenance beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 6, or down to -10°F (-23°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to moist, loamy or clay soil. The evergreen blue-green leaves add color all year and form a clump up to about 47 inches tall. Butterflies and birds visit it.

Pairs well with Swamp milkweed, Blue flag, Cardinal flower, and Coastal plain Joe Pye weed.
