Notes

Spanish broom (Genista hispanica) is a shrub for borders and low maintenance gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 7, or down to 0°F (-18°C). This plant likes full sun and dry soil of most types. It blooms in early to late spring and again in early to late summer, and it grows 24 to 36 inches tall and spreads 47 to 59 inches wide, so give it room. Deer and rabbits rarely make it their first choice. It tolerates drought once settled in.

Pairs well with Lavender cotton, Lamb’s ear, Purple Sensation ornamental onion, and Elfin mother of thyme.
