Notes
Spirea (Spiraea decumbens) is a low shrub for ground cover. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes full sun and average moisture. It stays 6 to 9 inches tall and spreads 6 to 18 inches wide, so it forms a low mat. White flowers open in late spring and early summer. Plant it near the front of the bed where the white blooms are easy to see.
Pairs well with Edelweiss, Feather reed grass, and Greig's tulip.
Native range
Southeastern Alps.
