Notes

Spirea (Spiraea vanhouttei) is a shrub for borders, hedges, and low maintenance gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full sun and average to moist, sandy, loamy, or chalky soil. White flowers cover the branches from early to late spring, and butterflies visit the blooms. It also tolerates drought once settled in. Deer rarely make it their first choice.

Pairs well with Little Hottie panicle hydrangea, Mount Hood daffodil, Ernest Markham clematis, and Honey Gold peony.
