Notes

'Orchard Dene' spotted joe-pye weed (Eutrochium maculatum 'Orchard Dene') is a perennial for borders, pollinator gardens, and rain gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun and moist to wet, loamy or clay soil. Deer and rabbits rarely make it their first choice. It grows fast and stands erect, and the blooms smell sweet. Butterflies, bees, and birds visit it.

Pairs well with Goldsturm black-eyed Susan, White phlox, and Blackhaw viburnum.
