Notes

'State Fair' apple (Malus domestica 'State Fair') is a tree for the food garden. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun and dry to moist, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. The fruit is grown for fresh eating and cooking, and it ripens early. University of Minnesota bred it in 1979. Bees visit the spring blooms, and a second apple tree nearby will help the fruit set because it is not self-fertile.

Pairs well with Hazelnut, Cinnamon fern, and Summer savory.
