Notes
Sulphur-flower buckwheat (Eriogonum umbellatum) is a perennial for rock gardens, ground cover, xeriscape, and pollinator gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full sun to part shade and dry to average, sandy or loamy soil. It forms loose mats of gray-green leaves that are woolly beneath. Cream to sulfur-yellow flowers open in round clusters and fade to orange or red. Bees and butterflies visit the blooms.
Pairs well with Blue grama, Creeping phlox, and Blue sage.
