Notes

Island buckwheat (Eriogonum grande var. rubescens) is a perennial for borders, ground cover, and xeriscape gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 8, or down to 10°F (-12°C). This plant likes full sun and dry, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. Red and pink flowers open in spring, summer, and autumn, and they draw butterflies, bees, and birds. Deer tend to pass it by. The plant stays evergreen and tolerates drought, so it needs little care.

Pairs well with White sage, Lemon thyme, and Society garlic.
