Notes

'Sunburst' apple (Malus domestica 'Sunburst') is a tree for the food garden, grown for fresh eating and juice. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun and dry to moist, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. The apples have bright orange-flushed skin and pale pink marbled flesh. Bees visit the spring blooms, and NIAB EMR bred it in 2006. Plant a second apple nearby, since this tree is not self-fertile.

Pairs well with Serviceberry, Calendula, Lupine, and Prairie dropseed.
