Notes
'Sunset Spice' blanket flower (Gaillardia grandiflora 'Sunset Spice') is a perennial for borders, containers, and low maintenance gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes full sun and dry to average, sandy, loamy, or chalky soil. It blooms in early to late summer and again in early to late autumn. Butterflies and bees visit the flowers, and it tolerates drought and salt. It is not a favorite of deer or rabbits, though hungry ones will eat almost anything.
Pairs well with Hidcote lavender, Sapphire alpine oatgrass, and Stonecrop.
