Notes

'Tenebrosa' peony (Paeonia 'Tenebrosa') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, cottage gardens, and perennial beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to moist, loamy soil. It blooms in early to late spring with dark purplish-red single flowers and a ring of bright stamens. Deer and rabbits tend to pass it by. Butterflies visit the blooms, and the blue-green foliage stays healthy.

Pairs well with Grape hyacinth, Wormwood, and Jackmanii clematis.
