Notes

'Thornbird' iris (Iris 'Thornbird') is a perennial for borders, cottage gardens, cut flowers, and containers. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full sun and average to moist, sandy or loamy soil. It blooms in early to late spring and again in early to late summer. Butterflies visit the flowers, and the plant tolerates drought. Deer and rabbits usually look elsewhere for a meal.

Pairs well with Meadow rue, Columbine, and Red Riding Hood tulip.
