Notes
'Tubergen's Scarlet' common hyacinth (Hyacinthus orientalis 'Tubergen's Scarlet') is a bulb for borders, containers, and rock gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. The fragrant crimson red flowers form small, slender spikes in early to late spring and attract bees. Deer and rabbits tend to pass it by. This hyacinth is an early forcing bulb.
Pairs well with Queen of Night tulip, Blue Angel hosta, and Paula Fay peony.
