Notes

'Turkenlouis' oriental poppy (Papaver orientale 'Turkenlouis') is a perennial for borders, cottage gardens, rock gardens, and pollinator gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full sun and dry to moist soil of most types. Deer and rabbits rarely make it their first choice. Red-orange flowers open in spring and again in summer, and they draw bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds. It forms a clump that is drought tolerant.

Pairs well with Blanket flower, Little bluestem, Nodding onion, and Paprika yarrow.
